VEGAS LEX on parallel imports of drugs in EAEU and the worldOn September 9, Maria Borzova, Manager of Life Sciences Projects at VEGAS LEX, took part in a routine meeting of the nonprofit partnership Standards of Pharmaceutical Market*. She talked about various approaches to the regulation of parallel imports – including on the pharmaceutical market – citing the practices used by major supranational unions and by some national governments. Ms. Borzova discussed in detail the regulation of parallel imports in the EAEU, as well as plans to develop and implement the differentiated principle of trademark rights exhaustion, the pros and cons of various regulatory approaches, and named the main reasons that hamper the desired effect of the introduction of parallel drug imports. She also cited the examples of practices used by EU countries, USA, China, India, Brazil, Australia and others. *** For more information about VEGAS LEX’s services for the pharmaceutical industry, please go here. |
