Nationwide Survey "Practice of Fighting the Corporate Fraud"
VEGAS LEX law firm and Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs are happy to bring to your attention the Nationwide Survey «Practice of Fighting the Corporate Fraud» Final Report. The key mission of the Survey was to improve the tools of fighting the corporate fraud in Russia and elaborate suggestions for improving and updating Russian laws.<br>

Having in mind that the corporate fraud rate is generally high, while the businesses do not frequently pay due regard to this phenomenon, the initiators of the Survey focused on practical aspects of investigating crimes, holding liable the guilty parties, forming the body of evidence and on methods of indemnification for the damage inflicted.<br>

The Survey has captured opinions provided by representatives of 127 companies that took part in our work. Web site <a href="http://www.stopcorporatecrime.ru/" style="color: #215083;"><span style="color: #215083;">http://www.stopcorporatecrime.ru</span></a> designed for this specific purpose allowed the respondents within the period from November 2012 up to August 2013 to answer the questions of the inquiry in any way convenient for them. Consequently, the figures were analyzed both for 2011 – 2012 and first half of the year 2013. The organizers ensured confidentiality of the information obtained during the Survey as well as anonymity for the respondents who opted for it when filling the inquiry.<br>

Further to the work performed, it may be concluded that corporate fraud constitutes a grave threat to the Russian companies, as 60 per cent of respondents acknowledge signs / facts of corporate crimes to be detected.<br>

The trend of corporate fraud in Russia remains almost steady for the period of 2011 – 2013. However, it can probably grow in future, for instance, in case of aggravating crisis development in the national economy.<br>

Fighting corporate fraud is a key task of the businesses. Solving this problem will make it possible not only to improve efficiency and reduce costs of the companies, but to reduce corruption background on a nationwide scale as well.<br>

The said Report contains suggestions for improving laws in various branches, such as civil and criminal law, anti-monopoly laws, laws for administrative offenses, procedural laws. These suggestions are intended to improve business environment on a national scale and protect the interests of honest businessmen.<br>

Results of the Survey were spotlighted in details within the framework of Russian Business Week since 17 to 21 March 2014, involving business executives and public officials.
