On 18 March 2013 within framework of the Russian Business Week the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs held a conference "Environmental and industrial safety: the role of business and government in reducing the risks", which was organized with the support of law firm VEGAS LEX . Traditionally this event brings together the key industrialists and public officials. The conference included two plenary sessions dedicated to improvement of the government regulation in the sphere of environmental and industrial safety.
The event was moderated by the first deputy principal of the Higher School of Economics Lev Yakobson and the managing partner of VEGAS LEX Alexander Sitnikov.
The participants discussed the development of legislation on industrial safety which regulates the operations of manufacturing facilities: the perspective of business, the mechanisms of public supervision in the sphere of natural resource management, priorities of business in provision of environmental safety, legal regulation of liability of businesses in the sphere of industrial safety.
The winners of the contest "The best Russian enterprises" in the category "Environmental responsibility" were awarded during the conference.
