VEGAS LEX roundtable in Volgograd: Challenging transactions during bankruptcy proceedingsOn December 9, the VEGAS LEX Volga Directorate held a roundtable in Volgograd. The conference, Your counterparty goes bankrupt: Risks of challenging the debtor’s transactions, was organized by Volga Directorate head Alexander Vyazovik and senior associate Maxim Lavrov. The participants discussed the most recent trends of law enforcement practice with regard to challenging transactions; the grounds on which the debtor’s deals with the counterparty can be challenged; the consequences of invalidating these transactions for the counterparty. The experts spoke about ways to minimize the counterparty’s risks arising fr om challenging the debtor’s transactions, and cited and discussed cases wh ere deals were challenged during the bankruptcy proceedings. They also covered other insolvency and bankruptcy aspects.
