VEGAS LEX's experts share secrets of successful dispute resolution
On February 28, 2019, the VEGAS LEX Law firm took part in the fourth annual conference entitled as "Judicial Practice – 2018-2019: key cases" and organized by the Pravo.ru web portal.
Viсtor Petrov, the Head of Litigation practice of VEGAS LEX, moderated the plenary entitled "Judicial practice and the state policy". The expert spoke in brief of the 2018 disputes and legislative amendments drawing particular attention to the disputes with the FAS Russia involved. Artem Molchanov, the Head of Legal Department of FAS Russia, continued speaking of the matter analyzing the 2018 key cases involving the Antimonopoly Service. Other participants of the session dwelt upon the first antitrust cases examined by the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, arbitrability of disputes relating to state contracts and judicial practice as per cases on application of laws on Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT).
In the second session of the conference, Anastasiya Cheredova, an Associate of Commercial practice, delivered speech on the results of work of commercial courts in 2018, new trends and shared practical guidelines with the participants with regard to forming comprehensive evidence base and various ways of presenting the contents of the evidence to judges. In conclusion, Anastasiya gave examples of the most prominent cases of the former period, the results of which may influence law enforcement practices in 2019.
In the course of the event, the participants also discussed tendency in development of procedural legislation, extraordinary cases of interpretation of provisions of the Code of Arbitrazh (Commercial) Procedure and of the general part of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation and talked about precedent-setting bankruptcy disputes.
